Nicholas Nickleby is quite cute.
Nicholas Nickleby is no brute.
Nicholas Nickleby makes me scream, "SHOOT!!!"
because I wish I could find a real life one.

Drugs do not make one glad.
Drugs can be quite bad.
Drugs make me sad
when not used for medical purposes.

Anakin Skywalker is the best.
Anakin Skywalker has a great chest.
Anakin Skywalker, make no jest,
is the coolest Jedi ever.

Jane Bennet's feelings for Bingley true.
Jane Bennet's feelings she did knew.
Jane Bennet did grow quite blue
when Mr. Bingley left.

Mr. Collins is quite annoying.
Mr. Collins is very boring.
Mr. Collins causes snoring
which is why we must say, "Poor Charolette."

Miss Bingley is quite a snitch.
Miss Bingley causes me a nervous twitch.
Miss Bingley thinks she is a wit
when infact she thinks too slowly.

Throughout the course of history, many great writers have exposed their talents in many fashions. Some authors write short stories, others write plays, and the most common form is through a novel. Numerous novels have been composed throughout the centuries and most of these show an accurate picture of their time. However, some of these works have lacked the efficiency to communicate through different time periods. Jane Austen was a great writer because of her wit, her understanding of human nature, and her work’s ability to communicate as effectively today as when they were first written.

Jane Austen’s works have always contained a great deal of wit – her novels are never dull and uneasy to read. Not only do her wise remarks propose a satire of her class but they are also amazingly true. In her 1814 work Mansfield Park, she states that, “A large income is the best recipe for happiness I ever heard of.” In her time period, The Regency, it was extremely common for marriages to be based on how much income (or allowance) a person had. Another example of this is the opening sentence to her most well known work, Pride and Prejudice (1813), “It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife.” Although her time period was preoccupied with the financial advantages of a match, the main characters in her novels were always adamant to marry for love instead of money and that is precisely what they did. Another example of Jane Austen’s wit is provided with this quote as well, “I do not want people to be agreeable, as it saves me the trouble of liking them.” I believe we all have experienced this at one point and time and the truth behind Jane Austen’s wit and novels makes her a pleasant author to read.

Another important detail to note about Jane Austen’s novels is her amazingly keen sense of people. There are never bad or good characters but only ones with fewer faults than the others. In her works, the characters are always in great variety and no two are entirely the same (but they may share some similarities). These characters go through things that we can all relate to in our daily lives. This is precisely why her novels are so well known today. When we read her works, we can easily cast our friends in the roles provided for us within the novels. Jane Austen’s novels profess her knowledge and observation of the human race which explains why her works have prevailed over time.

Throughout the last two-hundred years, Jane Austen’s works have still been effective at communicating as when they were first published. In fact, one of her most popular works, Pride and Prejudice, has never been out of print since its original publishing date in the year 1813. This shows an amazing ability to still be able to relate to the common audience over a large course of time. Many authors are not able to do this and in many cases, plenty of works that may be common knowledge of ours will never be heard of in the future. Today, Jane Austen is a well known author today and if she would have not published her novels anonymously, she would have been an extremely well known author during her time as well.

Jane Austen is a great writer because of her wit, her knowledge of character, and her works ability to communicate throughout time. Her wit showed her intelligence and her ability to make satirical comments of her class. Her knowledge of people allowed her to make her works seem real as opposed to fiction. Her works ability to communicate effectively throughout time shows her to be a classical author. She is a great author because of all three of these qualities and that is exactly why Jane Austen is a timeless writer and will remain one for years to come.

Texas is quite hot.
Texas, I like not.
Texas is where I'll be a lot,
Or atleast for a week.

Wickham makes me sad.
Wickham makes me quite mad.
Wickham may not be as bad
As I often profess him to be.
